Happy Tails

“As promised I am sending and update on Cha Cha (now Harry) and Rumba (now Ruby). They are fitting in quite nicely.  Took a little longer for Ruby but they both now love lap time and lots of loving. They have grown quite a bit since we adopted them.  They are quite entertaining when they play and are very busy kitties. They are definitely bonded, they do most everything together and are never too far apart. They are completely adorable and we are so happy and grateful we could give them a home.”

This brother and sister pair came into our care here at QHS in June of 2020 at just 7 weeks old, scared and alone. They spent their time in foster care learning how to socialize. We are so happy they have found a loving furever home where they can feel safe and comfortable.

September 2020 Stats

During the month of September, we had 147 animals come into our care. We received 126 cats, 20 dogs, and 1 Hamster. We adopted out 52 cats and 8 dogs. We returned 8 cats and 8 dogs to their owners. We also transferred out 55 animals to other like minded shelters and rescue organizations. The rest of the animals will stay with us until they find their furever home.

QHS Update

TV Bingo is back! We are pleased to announce the return of our TV Bingo on Cogeco YourTV Belleville, Cable 4/ HD Cable 700, every Tuesday from September through June at 7:30PM. All the proceeds are going to support the animals here at QHS. A book of cards is $4.50 and give players 7 games in total. Two of the games are played on the same card. A dabber must be used for all games. To find a list of retailers that are selling TV Bingo tickets visit our event page on our website.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in our virtual Wiggle Waggle Walkathon. We missed connecting with everyone face to face but enjoyed watching everyone’s adventures! This year we raised $12017 for our animals. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

Volunteer Program Update

I believe the saying is “You don’t realize what you have until its gone” This accurately describes how the staff at the QHS are feeling since the COVID-19 pandemic forced tight restrictions on our volunteer program. “We’re very eager to see volunteers back engaging with the homeless animals of the Quinte Region” says Volunteer Coordinator Kristi Ballenthin “Unfortunately, we don’t have a concrete date as of yet. Many of our existing volunteers know the challenges working out of a small building present.” Our foster program is currently operational, and runs on an as needed basis. If interested in becoming a foster parent, please visit our website, and complete a foster application- found under the volunteer tab. We appreciate your continued support during these trying times!
