Happy Tails 🐶
Sascha came into our care at 5 weeks old with six other puppies in his litter. He and his siblings spent time in foster care until they were old enough to be adopted out. He was adopted to his new family in October of 2019 and has grown into a handsome young man. His adopted Mom has reached out to give us an update saying he is a very rambunctious boy but is great with people and animals and weighs between 80-90 pounds! We are so happy to hear he is thriving in his furever home.
May 2020 Stats
During the month of May, we had 151 animals come into our care. 131 of those were cats and 19 were dogs, and 1 chicken. We adopted out 7 cats and 1 dog through foster homes by doing contactless adoptions. We returned 2 cat and 12 dogs to their owners. We also transferred out 69 animals to other like minded shelters and rescue organizations. The rest of the animals will stay with us until they find their furever home.
QHS continued to be closed to the public during the month of May, but staff were still working hard taking care of the animals. We have continued to accept animals from our animal control officers, as we hold the pound contracts for Belleville, Quinte West and Tweed.
With proper protocols in place to protect both staff and the public, pets were continued to be reunited to their owners throughout the month.
This month we implemented online fundraising draws on our Facebook page. Third party fundraisers were also held throughout May. The beautiful paintings below were handmade and sold as a fundraiser with all the proceeds going to the animals here at QHS.
These events had a great turn out and we are grateful for everyone’s continuing support throughout this trying time.
