Happy Tails 😻
Dodge came into our care in August of 2019 as a young kitten and spent time with his brother in foster care until he was old enough to be adopted. He was adopted by his foster mom in October and has grown into a handsome young man. His adoptive mom sent us a wonderful update. “As you can see, Dodge made himself at home here with us. He now spends his days finding the best spots to sleep, which includes on top of the fridge and the shoe rack. He loves to walk around and show off all his fluff, and quite frequently get the zoomies and chases nothing around the house. He loves attention and annoying his new sister, Nova. Dodge has become a part of the family and we love having this crazy feline in our home.” We are so happy he has found a home where he can be himself!
June 2020 Stats
During June, we had 124 animals come into our care. We received 84 cats, 27 dogs, 1 Parakeet and 12 Rats. We adopted out 42 cats, 6 dogs and 1 chicken. We returned 5 cats and 17 dogs to their owners. We also transferred out 43 animals to other like-minded shelters and rescue organizations. The rest of the animals will stay with us until they find their furever home.
Exciting news - QHS is now open for adoptions by appointment only! This month we have implemented new protocols which will keep our staff and public safety, and allow our animals to find their furever homes. All available animals are posted on our website as normal, and applications are taken via e-mail, or over the phone when needed. Once we have received an application, and it is approved, we are booking appointments for the public to come and meet the animal they have applied for at a scheduled time and date. This will allow staff to ensure proper disinfection protocols are in place in between appointments, and to control the number of people in the building at one time. We have set up a meeting station in the lobby where the public can view and interact with the animal they are interested in. Both the public and staff are also required to wear masks at all times when inside the shelter, and hand sanitizer is readily available at the meeting station. We have had great success so far and are very excited to continue to find our loving animals homes!
